Overview[]
The Nine Stars (구성 — 九星), Seven Evils (칠악 — 七惡), and Seven Demons (칠마 — 七魔), it referred to the transcendent figures representing the murim of the time, each represent the strongest individuals of Righteousness, Evil, and Demonic Paths, respectively.
Isn't it too much to have Twenty-Three Strongest Individuals in the world? You might misunderstand, considering the previous generations had titles like the Ten Supreme Venerables (우내십존), the Ten Absolutes Under Heaven (천하십절), the Twelve Earthly Heavens (십이지천), and the Seven Venerables (칠존).
However, remarkably, the martial prowess of these Twenty-Three Individuals was truly considered the Best in The World. Later on, this current martial world was evaluated as the Greatest Golden Age in The Entire History of Murim.
Nine Stars[]
Crisis is often an opportunity. In the past, the Great Crisis known as the Orthodox-Demonic Great War resulted in many sacrifices. However, those who survived within the sacrifices achieved significant progress. It was acclaimed by the martial world as the pinnacle of all eras. In a different time, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them the Unrivaled Masters, as Nine Absolute Experts emerged.
- Azure Heaven's Namgoong Clan's Azure Heaven (창천 — 蒼天), Namgoong Gyeom (남궁겸).
- Hebei's Peng Clan's Fierce Tiger (맹호 — 猛虎), Peng Mu-Seok (팽무석).
- Sichuan's Tang Clan's Divine Doctor (신의 — 神醫), Tang Yu-Sin (당유신).
- Xicheng's Yang Clan's Flowing Water (유수 — 流水), Yang Jun-Hyeok (양준혁).
- Taichi Wudang Sect's Supreme Ultimate (태극 — 太極), Cheong Woon (청운).
- Plum Blossom Mount Hua Sect's Plum Blossom (매화 — 梅花), Jin Hyeon (진현).
- Millennium Shaolin Temple's Vajra (금강 — 金剛), Myeong Won (명원).
- Myriad Beggars' Union's Tempest Thunder (풍전 — 風電).
- And finally, the Moon Slayer (참월 — 斬月), Ma Seok-Dong (마석동).
They were respectfully referred to as the Nine Stars, shining like heroes in the high sky. When the remaining eight returned to their respective families and martial arts sects, the unanimously elected Moon Slayer became the Murim Lord.
Seven Evils[]
In this world, there are countless villains. Some are inherently evil, like the theory of natural wickedness (性惡說), while others become wicked due to various reasons as they grow. However, the crucial point is that evil (惡) never disappears, regardless of the reasons. Villains can be found everywhere, from the lowest dregs of society, parasites, and beggars to ordinary merchants and scholars.
Anyone, willingly or not, can become a villain and commit evil deeds in their own position. Yet, if such a villain possesses great power, the resulting harm is likely to escalate. With power, they become tyrants; with wealth, they turn into corrupt figures; with martial prowess, they become formidable enemies.
And the Seven Great Villains officially designated in the martial world are collectively referred to as "Seven Evils". In terms of strength and martial power, you can consider it roughly equal to the Nine Stars. Of course, just like there are variations among the nine, there should be some differences among those guys as well.
Seven Demons[]
The Nine Stars and Seven Evils were active in the Central Plains and became somewhat known, but the Seven Demons remained shrouded in secrecy. This was because they did not leave the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult.
The Seven Demons (칠마 — 七魔) were a total of seven people:
- The Cult Lord of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, the Heavenly Demon (천마 — 天魔)
- The Great Elder of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, the Corpse Demon (시마 — 屍魔)
- The Master of the Demonic Sword, the Sword Demon (검마 — 劍魔)
- The descendant of the mysterious force, the Sun Palace (태양궁 — 太陽宮), the Flame Demon (염마 — 炎魔)
- The one who pursues the ultimate in Martial Arts, the Fist Demon (권마 — 拳魔)
- The Successor of the Blood Cult, the Blood Demon (혈마 — 血魔)
- And finally, the existence whose true identity remained unknown even within the Demonic Cult, the Azure Demon (청마 — 靑魔).
Even this information was not spread by the Demon Cult itself, but by spies parasitizing within the cult. Except for their aliases, very little information was known about them.
Nine Stars[]
In recent years, changes have occurred in this structure. The Nine Stars became eight after the passing of the Supreme Ultimate, Sage Cheong Woon. Everyone mourned the departure of this sage from the Wudang Sect.

Seven Evils[]
They started calling themselves the Hwayang Yeonhwa or the Splendid Blossoms & Flowery Years (화양연화 — 花樣年華), after the addition of Corpse Demon, one of the Seven Demons and the Great Elder of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult.[1]
After that, they began to act together under the name Hwayang Yeonhwa and started their evil deeds in earnest. However, they too lost half their members, including Sama Seong, in the Qin Shi Huang Tomb, and scattered. Effectively, this meant the dissolution of the Eight Evils and Hwayang Yeonhwa. Since then, the whereabouts of Bursting Laughter, Young Witch, Red Dot, and Corpse Demon remained unknown. There were only rampant speculations that these despicable people were still alive somewhere.

Seven Demons[]
The Seven Demons of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult became the Six Demons (육마 — 六魔) after Corpse Demon's betrayal.[1]
Although the Six Demons were grouped under the name Six Demons, they were never seen acting together. Then one day, two of the Six Demons, the Cult Lord who commands 100,000 Followers and the Master of the Demonic Sword, met...

Seven Ones[]
Long ago, just as the Orthodox Faction had nine heroes known as the Nine Stars (九星), there were also extraordinary individuals who emerged in the Murim from the Unorthodox Faction at a slightly later time. However, unlike the Nine Stars who were united as one, these individuals from the Unorthodox Faction detested each other and did not wish to associate with one another, true to the nature of their faction. They even refused to be called by a collective name.
Thus, they were known individually as The Seven Ones (일곱의 일). However, their presence was somewhat overshadowed when the great figures Seven Evils appeared on the scene.
