Pung Jeon or the Tempest Thunder (풍전 — 風電), before that, he was called the White Jade Beggar (백옥개 — 白玉丐) as one of the Four Most Handsome Men of the Murim. He is One of the Nine Stars, and the Supreme Leader of the Beggar's Union. Unfortunately, even the half-peace of the current Murim, does not just come. For some, to maintain the seemingly natural peace, even if it means shedding blood, sweat, and tear in the shadows. This Old Beggar was one of them.[3]

Overview[]

The vicious Thunder Qi, dormant within him, surged through his body in an instant. Crackling— the noise alone, as if emanating from the old beggar at its center, sent shivers down the spine of anyone within earshot. As swift as the wind, he appeared like the ancient Thunder Lord (뇌공 — 雷公), punishing evildoers and supernatural beings with lightning. Hence, he earned the nickname "Pung Jeon" or the Tempest Thunder, signifying the combination of wind and lightning.

The Old Beggar, the Leader of the Beggar's Union, Hero of the Orthodox-Demonic War, pinnacle of the Orthodox Faction, an absolute master seamlessly wielding Thunder Qi. This was the true face of Pung Jeon.

Great War[]

Now, there are not many left who remember the Orthodox-Demonic Great War. However, those who directly experienced the twenty-year-long war will probably never forget it until their dying breath. Pung Jeon was among such individuals. He survived with the fortune of heaven, gained fame, and became a hero, but that was all. He lost too much. Likewise, his master who became like a parent and the martial brothers who became like family all perished. Later, he became the Leader of the Beggar's Union and then the Supreme Leader. He was a respected figure and a seasoned elder. He spent decades as a respected elder.

Relationships[]

Song Yoon-Cheon[]

  • Upon knowing how powerful he is, he thought if he can gain something from him, maybe he can go further from here... Despite being praised as the Nine Stars, he had been at this level for about 30 years without glimpsing the next stage. The desire to become stronger is an instinct inherent in martial artists.
  • Pung Jeon shared a similar sentiment. He thought, if he is lucky, he might become the Eight Stars (팔성 — 八星) & One God (일신 - 一神), not just the Nine Stars. The First in the Orthodox Faction, or perhaps the First in The World, the Divine Beggar (신개 — 神丐).

Vital Energy[]

Thunder Qi (뇌기 — 雷氣)[]

Once, training the Thunder Qi was treated with the same reverence as demonic cultivation. Only when celestial fortune touched could one absorb the power of lightning as internal energy. Furthermore, it required another stroke of celestial fortune to master it. Many faltered in the process, unable to withstand Thunder Qi, resulting in possession or madness. Only a handful persevered, dealing with Thunder Qi.

Consequently, many chose to challenge their lives in adventures rather than train the Thunder Qi, unlike those who opted for rare arts like Flame Arts (화공 — 火功) or Ice Arts (화공 — 火功). Those who mastered Thunder Qi were rarer than those who trained in these uncommon arts. And at the pinnacle of Thunder Qi in the current murim stood this Old Beggar.

Thunder Qi is an intuitive force—strong and swift. However, its simplicity reaches an extreme, making it challenging for many to handle. Those capable of resisting Thunder Qi are only peers or higher-level experts. Considering the martial world, how many such formidable martial artists exist? Moreover, it wasn't common for someone to practice pure martial arts capable of countering Thunder Qi. It was dangerous both for the wielder and the opponent. Therefore, instances where Feng Jian employed Thunder Qi as his full power were mostly limited to moments of assassination. Thunder Qi, boasting extreme strength and speed, was optimized for a single decisive strike.[4]

Ultimate Thunderous Strike ( — )[]

  • It was simply the closest to Thunder Qi, a powerful and swift straightforward strike.
  • A strike that not only took one of the Heavenly Demon's arms but also instantly killed the Fist Demon. After that, a considerable amount of time passed, there was no strike surpassed it. Yet, it was similar to the Hundred-Step Divine Fist Technique (백보신권과 — 百步神拳科) of the Shaolin Temple.
  • Advancing with the left foot forward, firmly planted it on the solid ground. Thigh and calf swelled as if about to burst. Every nerve focused on the right arm, now directed backward in a perfect ready stance. The Thunder Qi flowing from the clenched right fist was compressed over and over again until it would gather no more.
